“What’s good for the elder one is good for everyone.”

The same curb cut that helps the older adult with a cane, helps the mother with a stroller and the person with a disability in a wheelchair.

Livable Communities embrace all generations; creating a community that meets the needs of older adults while building a living legacy that will benefit future generations.

A Livable Community is one that has affordable and appropriate housing, supportive community features and services, and adequate mobility options, which together facilitate personal independence and the engagement of residents in civic and social life.

The Traverse Livable Community Survey is a way to take a closer look at our community as a starting point for effecting change that will benefit Traverse City as we begin to prepare for the enormous impact of the Baby Boomers and their Aging Parents. The Traverse Livable Community Survey will target the following assets:
• Transportation • Walkability
• Safety & Security • Housing
• Recreational and Social Activities • Senior Sensitive Marketplace
• Art, Culture & Education • Health Services
• Volunteerism & Civic Engagement • Caring Community
The TLC Survey takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. Opportunity to express comments, suggestions and new ideas are included throughout the survey.
